i try to convert the mpeg2 and vcd files to uncompressed video - but i have trouble all the way

on a mac:
mpeg2 plugin of quicktime tells me the resolution is 320x240 (640x480 on a windows machine) - and exports it like that
mplayer does nothing with the files
mpeg2decx just gives me an error

on pc:
file plays fine with mediaplayer
tmpgenc gives me an unsupported format error (like every other video editing program)

what is the thing i do wrong?
please help me!

The files load without effort here into Vegas Video 3. They can then be saved out into any format. They load fine into After Effects 5.5 for deinterlacing.
